¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Education Conference 2022

¹û¶³Ó°Ôº has been holding internal teaching and learning conferences in a variety of forms to share interesting practice and stimulate discussion for nearly 20 years.

Every year the ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Education Conference (formerly the Teaching and Learning Conference) brings togetherÌýthe ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº education communityÌýto share innovative and exciting practice and highlight solutions to perennial challenges in teaching and learning.

Staff and students present in a range of formats about any issue pertinent to teaching and learning, and sessions are designed to facilitate discussion among the whole ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº community.

Education conference 2022

'Transforming Assessment' will be the focus of theÌý¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Education Conference onÌýWednesday 6ÌýApril 2022.

After one postponement in 2019 and a fully virtual format in 2020, we're excited to welcomeÌýback our delegates to an in-person conference that will take place on the ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº campus, 6 April 2022.Ìý

This will be an opportunity for ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº's vibrant education community to come together to share good practice and discuss future innovations related to assessment.Ìý

Keynote speaker: Professor David Boud

This year's keynote speaker will be Professor David Boud, Alfred Deakin Professor and Foundation Director of theÌýÌýat Deakin University, Australia.ÌýÌý

ProfessorÌýBoud has published extensively on teaching, learning and assessment in higher and professional education and conducted professional development workshops for academics worldwide. His current work focuses on the areas of assessment for learning in higher education, academic formation and workplace learning. He is one of the most highly cited scholars internationally in the field of higher education (h-index of 96), and has been a pioneer in developing learning-centred approaches to assessment across the disciplines and in changing conceptions of feedback.Ìý

David will join us online for his keynote, whichÌýwill present a radical rethinking of what feedback is, the roles of students in feedback processes and how courses can be designed to effectively use feedback. The session will start with a dialogue between David and ¹û¶³Ó°Ôºâ€™s Mary Richardson (Professor of Educational Assessment, IOE) about these new ideas around student feedback, before opening up to wider debate and contributions from conference participants.Ìý

Session formats

Staff and students are invited to submit abstracts for:

  • Case Study/Individual presentation (8 to 12 minutes)
  • Round Table Discussions (a group of colleagues, 3-5 presenters coming together on an assessment theme, an opportunity to reflectÌýand share ideas, 55 minutes)
  • Workshops (interactiveÌýsession, 55 minutes)Ìý
  • Asynchronous presentationsÌý
