¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Education Conference 2023 keynote speaker announced – sign up now!

Join the in-person conference on 19 April to hear from President and Provost, Dr Michael Spence, Vice-Provost (Education & Student Experience), Prof Kathleen Armour, and Professor Mike Sharples on the theme 'Designing Futures-focused Education' with a focus on the impact of AI.

We are delighted to share with you further details of this year’s ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Education Conference, taking place on Wednesday 19 April, from 9:30 am, with an online launch on Tuesday 18 April.

¹û¶³Ó°Ôº's President and Provost, Dr Michael Spence, will kick off the day with a short welcome and introduction to this year’s conference.Ìý

He will be followed by keynote speaker Emeritus Professor of Educational Technology at The Open University.

MikeÌýwill join us in-person, where he will draw on his expertise in human-centred design and the evaluation of new technologies and environments for learning, to focus on subjects such asÌýthe evolution of artificial intelligence.Ìý

He will then be joined byÌý before opening up to wider debate and contributions from conference participants.Ìý

Professor Mike Sharples biographyÌý

Mike Sharples is Emeritus Professor of Educational Technology at The Open University, UK. As Academic Lead for the FutureLearn company, he led the design of its social learning approach. He provides consultancy for organisations including UNESCO and UNICEF. He is an Associate Editor of the International Journal of Artificial Intelligence in Education. He founded the report series and is author of over 300 papers in the areas of educational technology, learning sciences, science education, human-centred design of personal technologies, artificial intelligence and cognitive science. His recent books are , and , both published by Routledge.

Throughout the day, we’ll also be joined by SU Sabbatical Officers, ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Alum, graduate employers and colleagues from other London institutions.

Staff and students are invited to submit abstracts by 13 February, 12 noon,Ìýfor case study presentations, round table discussions, interactiveÌýworkshops or asynchronous presentations.Ìý​â¶Ä‹â¶Ä‹
