Dr Ingo Waldmann promoted to Associate Professor

The Centre for Planetary Sciences congratulates board member Ingo Waldmann on his recent promotion to Associate Professor in Physics and Astronomy at ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº.

We are thrilled to congratulateÌýCPS board member Ingo Waldmann on his recent promotion to Associate Professor in Physics and Astronomy,Ìýwithin the Faculty of Mathematical & Physical Sciences at ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº.

Dr Ingo Waldmann was appointed as a Senior Research Fellow in the ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Astrophysics Group in 2014 andÌýto a Lectureship in 2018. In 2019, heÌýwas honoured withÌýthe Royal Astronomical Society Fowler Award in Geophysics for his role in theÌývanguard of developing the statistical theory of exoplanetÌýobservationsÌýand their interpretation.ÌýÌýIngo is the PI of the European Research Council starting grant 'ExoAI',ÌýspecialisingÌýin machine and deep learning solutions for the observation and characterisation of astronomical exoplanet data.Ìý He is alsoÌýdeputy director of the ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Centre for Space Exochemistry Data (CSED) where he focusses on knowledge exchange in machine and deep learning from the purely academic to space and satellite industrial applications. Ingo has recently co-foundedÌýSpaceFlux Ltd, a company focusing on global robotic telescope networks and AI in astronomical data stream analysis. Somehow, heÌýalso finds time for the role of CourseÌýTutor for our MSc in Planetary Science and to serve on the CPS Board, for which we are very grateful. Congratulations, Ingo!
