B-MEntor Academic Mentoring Scheme

B-MEntor is a cross-institutional mentoring scheme for ethnic minority academics and researchers.Ìý
Mentors could be of any ethnic background at senior lecturer (Assistant Professor) level or above.

B-MEntor Professional Mentoring Scheme

B-MEntor is a cross-institutional mentoring scheme for ethnic minority staff in professional services.Ìý
Mentees should be at grades 1 –7
The mentors will be staff from any ethnic background from first-line managers up through senior management – at ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº, this is grades 7-10.

Alternative mentoring routes can also be discussed and organised by your line manager.Ìý

Progression

Inclusive Advocacy – Professional

is a new sponsorship programme designed to ensure high performing under-represented groups reach their full potential at ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº. Ìý
Emerging from the recognition of a persistent attainment gap in the career progression of ethnic minority staff, the two-year programme aims to connect senior leaders (‘Advocates’) to high-performing Grade 7 and 8 staff (‘Protégés). ÌýÌý

They are not currently matching new pairs, but are expected to recruit and train new participants in the 2021-22 academic year.Ìý
You can register future interest in being a protégé or an advocate.

As a Department, Chemical Engineering is always keen to encourage, develop and reward excellence in our students. Our schemes offer support to academically strong students from groups historically under-represented in science and engineering careers in the UK, to allow them to pursue a Chemical Engineering degree at ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº to diversify the graduate talent pool through promoting participation and equal opportunity.

TheÌýrepresents the views of students at ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº, including but not limited to, students with African, Asian, Arab, Caribbean and Indigenous heritages. This involves meetings to discuss issues that affect the network, running of campaigns and projects, and attending socials.Ìý
