International Symposium on Engineering Education

A group of ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Engineering staff travelled to Glasgow to attend the International Symposium of Engineering Education.

Originally planned for 2020, the first week of September finally saw the (ISEE 2022)Ìýhosted by the University of Strathclyde.

The central location and spectrum of colleagues from across the UK and Ireland made for an enjoyable and fascinating two days. As expected, there was a lot of reflection on the experience of teaching through the pandemic and lessons that can be learnt in creating engaging blending learning environments. In addition, the audience were treated to three exceptional keynote speakers; Aldert Kemp, formerly of TU Delft offered a insightful view of the future direct of engineering education, termed Education 4.0, address the disruption of AI and social responsibility of the future engineer. Greet Langie presented evidence from the PREFER project regarding the transition of engineerings graduates into employment, while Mary Curnock Cook detailed the development of the Dyson Institute of Engineering and Technology.Ìý

The return to in-person conferences and the opportunities to network during coffee breaks and at dinner- especially in such grandiose surrounds of Glasgow City Chambers in George Square were the real highlight of the event.
