Student Academic Representatives are appointed or elected in programmes, departments and faculties across ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº as the voice of their fellow students. They have the power to influence decisions at ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº.

With a network of over 1,500 elected Reps in place across ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº, the Student Academic Representatives scheme is instrumental in ensuring that the voice of students is heard and listened to.

What will I do as a Rep? 

As the voice of your fellow students, you will gather and present their concerns, feedback and ideas to drive changes to education at ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº, with support from staff and the Students’ Union. You’ll represent students in meetings such as the Student Partnership Committees (SPCs), which are influential in the development of education at ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº.

You’re also encouraged to provide your fellow students with updates on how you’re representing their academic concerns, through emails, social media or Moodle posts.

All Reps receive training from the Students’ Union before starting their role.  

How can I benefit from being a Rep? 

Being a Student Academic Representative will develop skills such as leadership, communication, and relationship-building with fellow students and key staff members. You can also gain experience in chairing meetings and presenting opinions and data. 

What is the time commitment? 

Between 10 and 15 hours per term.
