Volterra Colloquia

Volterra I Colloquia

Three colloquia were held during the lifetime of the first Volterra project:

  • I.2] "Law and Social Order": held on 29 November 1997 at the University of Manchester. A joint event with the Centre for Late Antiquity in Manchester.
  • I.3] Concluding colloquium: held on 26-27 March 2004 at the Institute of Classical Studies, South Block, Senate House, University of London.

A further three colloquia were held during the lifetime of the first phase of the second Volterra project:

Volterra II events (second phase)

Two public lectures and three colloquia are part of the second phase of Volterra II:

  • Volterra Lecture I] The first Volterra lecture, entitled "The recovery and use of Justinian's Code in eleventh-century Italy", was given by Professor Charles Radding (Michigan State University) at 5.30pm on 29th February 2012 in the Chancellor's Hall, First Floor, South Block, Senate House, London.
  • II.5] The fifth Volterra II colloquium, entitled "Law,Lexica and Libraries: Italy and Francia from the sixth to the eleventh centuries", was organized jointly with the Festus Lexicon Project (also at ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº) and held from 20 to 22 June 2013 in the Department of History, ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº.
  • II.6] The sixth Volterra II colloquium, entitled "The Roman legal heritage between continuity and reformation in the tenth and eleventh centuries", will comprise two sessions on 7 July 2015 at .
