The numbers of colleagues that are officially recorded as striking by ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº will make a difference to the assessment employers make of the action. Declaring days of strike shows we are big and determined (also remember your deducted pay goes to the student hardship fund).

In summary:

• Please report your days of strike action (24, 25 and 30 November) on theÌýstandard HR formÌýor directly to your line manager if requested instead.
• ¶Ù´ÇÌýnotÌýreport Action Short of a Strike (ASOS), which is ongoing, and, broadly, simply means working to contract, not taking on excessive additional work and workloads.
• If you work part time, you only need to report strike days within your normal working pattern, using the online form above

It has also come to our attention that in some departments, colleagues are being asked to provideÌýdetails of classes or other activitiesÌýthat have been missed due to strike action.Ìý

We believe this request is unreasonable, and adviseÌýnotÌýacceding to it.

The only information that colleagues are obliged to give to management concerning their strike action is the dates on which they have been on strike, and you only need to report that information after participating in strike action, to a manager if you are asked.

Any list of union members or strike participants held by ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº can only be used legally for very limited purposes. From what we have seen, the dataset for missed classes lists events and not individuals, but itÌýseems likely that individuals may be identified from it. We have raised this issue with ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Human Resources and warned them that collecting this kind of data without very strict safeguards is likely to be unlawful. Union reps are meeting HR next week.
