About this activity
A question is asked, and students are invited to respond. The answer given is developed as it is 鈥渂ounced鈥 around the room for input from different students.听
This will enable them to build on understanding and have students develop stong reasoning out of misconceptions.
For example:
- 鈥淎ziz, what do you think of Sandra鈥檚 answer?鈥
- 鈥淪andra, how could you develop Marlon鈥檃 answer to include more detail?鈥
- 鈥淐arl, how might you combine all we鈥檝e heard into a single answer?鈥
Why use it
- To encourage interaction between students and build upon the knowledge base of the group;听
- To encourage different perspectives;听
- To build a sense of community听
When to use it
- At any points where the teacher wishes to check understanding by the wider听cohort;听听
- As a change in synchronous activity听
Digital tools that might be used
Designed for synchronous activity using BB Collaborate, Zoom, MS Teams, etc.
Speed of set up time听
A few seconds to frame听the听 activity听and decide who to ask.
Leave at least 10 secs for students to respond.
Workload
Negligible听but need to build in time for asking and asking questions and developing the etiquette.
Other resources
- Proximity apps.
