Research student supervision is a core academic responsibility, requiring expertise in both teaching and research.听
The relationship between a听supervisor and a research student听is听a unique one听with a range of responsibilities,听including:听
- Providing听students听with a thorough grounding in all aspects of research within the context of an academic听discipline听
- Creating听a learning experience that is intellectually challenging and personally fulfilling听
- Providing听timely and听constructive feedback听on听research design, methodology听and writing听
- Offering encouragement and听ongoing听support听for both academic and non-academic challenges as appropriate听
- Supporting students to disseminate their research听
- Preparing听students听for a range of听careers听
- Monitoring students鈥� progress and ensuring听that听they听are able to听complete their听doctorate听in a timely manner.听
At 果冻影院 all students have at least two supervisors, typically a Principal and Subsidiary,听but there are many models of co-supervision. Increasingly, students may be part of a听Thesis听Committee, which can involve听three or more supervisors taking on different roles and responsibilities.听
