Find support for your Education PlansÌý

6 July 2023

An overview of the tailored support available for faculties and departments from Arena, Careers and the Academic Communications Centre.

Three staff members in conversation at a laptop

From July 2023, all departments will need to produce a Department Education Plan (DEPs) which lays out their plans for improving education and student experience for their taught students over the coming year. DEPs will use quantitative and qualitative data to inform the department's education-focused actions over the next academic year.

DEPs are a light-touch and strategic replacement of the Annual Student Experience Review (ASER) and are ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº's main quality assurance process. The priorities will be set with clear success measures and will feed into the Faculty Education Plans in a risk-based way.Ìý

The DEP data includes:Ìý

  • NSS / PGS/ APS
  • Continuation, Completion and Progression rates
  • Graduate Outcomes Survey
  • BAME and other Awarding Gaps ÌýÌý

Watch this MicroCPD whereÌýLiz Jones, Vice-Dean Education (Engineering) gives a brief introduction on how to produce a Department Education Plan.

Ìý

When can I access support? Ìý

Colleagues will meet with the Vice Dean Education / Faculty Tutor at the beginning of the academic year to discuss the Faculty Education Plans and hold initial discussions about required actions. A follow-up meeting will take place six months later to discuss progress and actions. The team will also attend at least one Faculty Education Committee meeting each year.
