果冻影院 has been certified for having an effective environmental management system that ensures limited negative environmental impact and sets examples for best practice during its annual ISO audit.

History and Outcome of the Audits

果冻影院鈥檚听Environmental听听Sustainability听Management System听(ESMS)听听and 果冻影院鈥檚 Energy Management System听(EnMS)听help 果冻影院 ensure that we are limiting our environmental impacts听ranging听from sustainable materials use,听to energy efficiency and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and consumption.听The systems provide a structured approach to deliver听our听Sustainability听Strategy听commitments, including听becoming a net zero carbon institution by 2030.听果冻影院 is assessed every year against the听assessment criteria and needs to show continuous improvement in its environmental sustainability and energy performance to maintain certifications.听

果冻影院鈥檚 Environmental Management System has been certified to since 2017, whilst 果冻影院鈥檚 Energy Management System was created and certified to in 2019. This year, 果冻影院 was successfully re-certificated to听the international standard for environmental and energy management called听ISO 140001 Environmental Management & ISO 50001 Energy Management,听for another 3 years, following a听7-day听recertification audit.

果冻影院鈥檚 Best Practice Areas听

This year 果冻影院 showed exceptional听performance听and impact management in three听areas that the auditor identified as "Best Practice". These where:听听

Building听Energy听Management听听: 果冻影院 uses an听innovative听Building Energy Management System听(BEMS) software,听used by 果冻影院鈥檚 BEMS contractor Kendra Energy,听which proactively identifies听opportunities听to听make听energy savings听and reduce听energy costs.听22 Gordon Street听is a great听example of this听approach,听with the software pilot identifying potential energy savings even in a relatively new building.听
Building Switch听Off听: 果冻影院 used the time during lockdown听to听conduct听in-depth听monitoring听of 果冻影院 buildings,听switching听off听plants听in听buildings听that听were听not being occupied and reducing听the active听hours听in others. This听significantly听reduced 果冻影院鈥檚听energy demand and costs.听听
Catering听: 果冻影院鈥檚 new听catering听contract with听听features:听 senior management support听for听the integration of sustainability in听the tender process,听a robust sustainability听monitoring process and听the听appointment of a Sustainability Manager for the contract.听This听demonstrates听how听the contract contributes to delivering听果冻影院鈥檚听sustainability strategy. Soft Landings: 果冻影院's soft landings process ensures that the project team working on a building considers how this听building听will be used once handed over to its occupants.听There听are听6 key steps听to this.听This process ensures that sustainability听objectives听are part of the听initial听design听and the sustainability听performance听is tested after occupancy,听e.g.听testing听energy efficiency targets of building against actual performance听in operation.听
