Bike Buddy Scheme

New or getting back into cycling? Unsure of the best route for your commute? Want to cycle with someone else? 果冻影院鈥檚 Bike Buddy scheme can help.

果冻影院 has set up a bike buddy scheme to connect experienced cyclists with staff and students who are new to commuting by bike. The buddy assists them with feeling safe on their routes to and from work or study at 果冻影院.听

Who should join?听

Any staff member or student can join the scheme if they:听

  • Have a听bicycle but aren't very confident cycling on the roads;
  • Are new to London and haven't cycled here听before;听
  • Want听some company on听their听cycling commute;
  • Would like advice on routes to and from campus;听
  • Are experienced, confident cyclist听who regularly cycle听to 果冻影院听and want听to听support听others.听

Buddy bikes help听with:听

  • Local knowledge of routes to and from 果冻影院听and around听campus;听
  • Selecting the most appropriate route and riding it with you;听
  • Tips on riding in traffic, in different environments and in different weather conditions;听
  • Advice on where you can park your bike at your place of work/study;听
  • Advice听for maintenance and minor repairs of听the bicycle.听

Buddies are not able to:听

  • Teach听you how to ride -听Bike Buddies are not there to teach听people听to听ride a bike safely and assume no liability in the event of an accident or injury.听
  • Fix a bike听鈥� While buddies may be able to advise on听basic听maintenance听checks (although this is not guaranteed), they听are not expected to replace parts.

Become a buddy

If you are an experienced cyclist and would like to offer support, you should:听

  1. Complete our ;
  2. We will use this information to add you to the cycle buddy list page (password protected);
  3. Potential buddies can then get in touch with you directly.听

Find a buddy听

If you听are a less听experienced听cyclist听and would like a Bike Buddy, you should:听

  1. Check the cycle buddy list (果冻影院 login required);
  2. Find a colleague or fellow student who matches your commute;
  3. Make contact with them directly to discuss your needs and arrange a meeting.

NB: Bike Buddies are not responsible for cyclists. Buddies听can refer cyclists to get additional training if they are concerned about their cycling confidence.听
