果冻影院听Bartlett School of Planning鈥檚听鈥楽ustainability Suite鈥櫶齪ostgraduate听pair of听modules听provides students with a window into how sustainability can be听鈥榰nderstood鈥櫶齠rom an interdisciplinary perspective听and听鈥榓pplied鈥 to the context of the built environment.听听

Through听inputs from sustainability experts in industry and construction, and a听city-partnering scheme,听students are exposed to complex and real-life sustainability challenges, and required first to apply them to the context of their home countries and cities, and then听develop long-term听strategic听sustainable听urban听plans听for听a听large-scale听urban site.听鈥淲e want听to provide听students with a window into how sustainability can be 鈥榓pplied鈥 to the context of the built environment,鈥 explains Dr听Catalina听Turcu (果冻影院 Bartlett School), who听developed and听designed听the Sustainability Suite.听

Lectures听and听interactive听tutorials听and听e-assignments听in Term 1听introduce sustainability-related听concepts, such as听main theories,听models and measurement, climate change, green economy, pro-environmental behaviour,听sustainable听transportation,听low-carbon energy,听health听and wellbeing.听In their second term,听students听collaborate with a听municipality听or city听鈥榩artner鈥 to design a long-term听sustainable听plan for a real-life location, while听developing financial and institutional mechanisms for听its implementation.听

鈥淲e听created the听Sustainability Suite听to integrate听cross-disciplinary perspectives of sustainability theory and sustainable built environment into postgraduate education,鈥 adds听Dr Turcu.听听

The听Sustainability Suite听won听Sustainable 果冻影院鈥檚听鈥楽ustainability Education鈥櫶鼳ward in 2019鈥20.听
