Student Adviser Clara Hall

What I do

Hi, I’m Clara. I am the Student Adviser for Geography and I am here for you as a key point of contact during the first year of your undergraduate studies. I am available to discuss any wellbeing, support, and student experience matters.

Events

Working within Student Support and Wellbeing Services, we will be hosting a range of events and activities during term time to support your Social bonding, Skills for life, and Wellbeing at university. Explore the workshops and activities you can join throughout the academic year listed below, then click the event hyperlink to book your place.

Term 1: September  - December 2024
Thursday 12th September 11:00am-1:00pm, or  Tuesday 17th September 11:00am-1:00pm.  Both events will be online.

Come along to meet Clara Hall, your Student Adviser and your new classmates in our friendly, ice-breaker session!

Find out a little bit more about your Student Adviser, how we can best support you during your first year at university, and the exciting events we'll have on throughout the year.

After your Student Adviser has had the chance to say hello, you'll also have an opportunity to meet your new classmates. We appreciate starting university can be a nerve-wracking time, so there will be some activities and games to get you all socialising, so you can start the term off already knowing a few friendly faces!

This event is completely free, and a great way to ease your nerves and meet some new faces before you start your course. We can't wait to see you there!

Term 2: January - March  2025

About Clara

What was your experience of Further/Higher education like?

My experience of higher education was both very scary and incredibly exciting.  I transferred institutions part way through my degree which meant I was new when everyone else already knew each other.  It took me a long time to feel like I belonged and to settle in, but I have great memories of the people I studied with and learnt from.

What do you like most about your work as a Student Adviser?

I've worked as a student adviser in higher education for more than 20 years, I love my job! What I like most is getting to know students individually and making sure that they know that their own university experience is valued and important. It's important to me that students feel comfortable with me to be able to honestly share any concerns, and I love to share in their successes too.

What's a surprising or interesting fact about yourself?

I'm a twin.  My brother and I were the only vegetarians in our school when we were children!
