About Andrew

What was your experience of Further/Higher Education?Ìý

I was extremely nervous about going to university but overall, my experience was positive. I met a huge variety of people from all over the world at university and this enabled me to develop as a person myself. Building relationships was one of my main highlights, I have made lifelong friends, and I was able to learn so much about myself. I enjoyed my time academically too, studying Film. It is a subject I enjoy in my leisure time, so I had a huge interest in my course. I do wish that I’d known more about what support was available and that there’d been a better connection between students and academics. I didn’t always have the confidence to reach out and struggled at times myself, so this would have helped.Ìý

What do you like most about your work as a Student Adviser?

What I enjoy most is being able to meet a wide range of students and support them to overcome challenges. University does pose a lot of challenges, and it’s easy for people to miss out on support that they could hugely benefit from. I feel privileged to be able to help students navigate all the support that is on offer and support them to get the most out of their time here.Ìý

What's a surprising or interesting fact about yourself?

People might be interested to know that I am a huge racket sports fan and particularly enjoy playing tennis and table tennis as much as I can. I challenge anyone to a match of either, (I am particularly confident of beating most at table tennis)!Ìý
