This module aims to provide a general background on fundamental statistical methods and applications in data science.

Standard prerequisites

Knowledge of introductory probability and statistical theory, and the associated necessary mathematical theory.

Registration process

STAT0032聽is specified as a formal option within the following postgraduate programmes:

  • MSc Data Science for聽Cultural Heritage;
  • MSc Risk and Disaster Science.

The eligibilty of聽MSc Data Science for聽Cultural Heritage students will be determied via a test organised by their parent department at the beginning of Term 1. Students from the MSc Risk and Disaster Science聽programme聽must consult a member of staff in the Department of Statistical Science, who will confirm whether they have the necessary prerequisites.

STAT0032聽is NOT聽offered as an elective.
