ThisÌýpresentation will examineÌýhow common identity categories, such as ethnicity or nationality, do not resonate so well in the conflict in Ukraine, and how survey-based methodology may not be very successful in capturing all the nuances of identity. It will provideÌýan alternative methodology based on narrative identity and use the case of people with dual nationality in Donbas to illustrate the potential of applying this methodology.Ìý
