Join us on 28th April for a workshop on Romanian Migration.
Romanian
citizens have been arriving in Western Europe for many decades; for instance,
as refugees during the Cold War. However, Romania鈥檚 EU Accession in 2007 was
followed by a rapid increase in migration and Romania became the top country of
nationality for migrants arriving in the UK in 2015.
A scholarly literature is
emerging on this migration wave, both in Romania and in receiving countries.
This workshop is the first in the UK to bring together scholars researching Romanian
migration. It focuses on the themes of marginality, precariousness in
employment, discrimination, and the implications of the UK legal framework for
Romanians who have made the UK their home.
