The programme includes Sergei Prokofiev鈥檚 Violin Sonata No. 1 (1946) and B茅la Bart贸k's "Contrasts" (1938) for violin, clarinet and piano.聽

The evening will start with a reception from 6:30pm followed by music from 7pm. The reception will continue after the concert.聽

Begun in 1938, two years after his return to the Soviet Union, Prokofiev's first violin sonata was premiered in 1946 by the great Russian virtuoso, David Oistrakh, who subsequently performed two of its movements at Prokofiev's funeral in 1953.聽

In 鈥淐ontrasts鈥�, commissioned by jazz clarinettist Benny Goodman, Bart贸k鈥檚 trio can be聽described as 鈥渁 kind of deliciously filtered Hungarian jazz鈥�.聽
