Our approach

Information Provision

¹û¶³Ó°Ôº is committed to ensuring prospective and current students can make informed decisions about their studies.

This applies to:

  1. Information provision - the need to provide up front, clear, accurate, comprehensive, unambiguous and timely information to prospective and current students.
  2. Changes to information provision - the need to ensure prospective and current students are informed and, in some cases, agree to changes to a programme.
  3. Terms and conditions - the need for terms and conditions that apply to students to be fair and balanced. HE providers should not rely on terms that could disadvantage students.
  4. Complaint handling processes and practices - the need to ensure that complaint handling processes and practices are accessible, clear and fair to students.

Review

Education Commmittee has oversight of ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº's compliance with consumer protection regulations through its responsibility for condition of registration C1 - guidance on consumer protection law. In addition, the CMA Compliance Steering Group meets regularly to discuss risks, mitigations and responsibilities. Colleagues from across ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº are members of this group.

The SRS compliance team and MarComms continue to review areas of risk surrounding consumer protection compliance and work closely with academic departments and professional services to ensure that these risks are mitigated.

Support

These webpages are for all staff involved in providing information about ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº's programmes to prospective and current students.

Training for relevant staff is available and information on how to access the training can be found on the training page. The SRS compliance team can provide advice and support to staff who have queries regarding consumer protection law. The SRS compliance team also monitor the requirements set out in the OfS Regulatory Framework and Competitions and Markets Authorigy (CMA) regarding consumer law to ensure ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº is and continues to be compliant.
