Shephard-Phillips Scholarship

The Shephard-Phillips Scholarship is intended to enable and encourage a UK student in financial need to pursue a ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº undergraduate degree in Life Sciences

Eligibility

Eligible candidates must:

  • be domiciled in the UK with Home fee status;
  • be in financial need as assessed by ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº;
  • hold an offer of admission to ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº to study full-time on one of the below Life SciencesÌýundergraduate degreesÌýfor the 2023/24Ìýintake:
    • Biochemistry
    • Biochemistry (leading to Molecular Biology in year 2)
    • Biomedical Sciences
    • Biological Sciences

Value, benefits, and duration

The award provides £15,210Ìýper year for a threeÌýyear undergraduate programme and is subject to satisfactory academic progress. The awardÌýcan be applied to cover tuition fees orÌýmaintenance costs depending on the awardees' preference.

If a student on a four year undergraduate programmeÌýreceives this award, payments will be made pro rata, i.e. they will receive £11,407.50Ìýfor each of their four years of study.

One award is available for 2023/24.

The criterion for awarding the scholarshipÌýis financial need and you will need to demonstrate this in the application.


How to apply

The Shephard-Phillips Scholarship is one of the schemes that makeÌýup the Undergraduate Funding and Access Awards (UGFA).

To be considered for a Shephard-Phillips Scholarship, please follow the procedure onÌýthe UGFA webpage.


Results

The UGFAsÌýwill be awarded by recommendation by a panel composed of ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº staff. The successful candidates will be notified as soon as decisions are made by mid-September.Ìý
