¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Health and Safety Objectives 2024/2025

The health and safety objectives for ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº are agreed annually by the Work Health and Safety Committee and are part of the Safety Management System.

Objective 1: T100 Programme


  • All departments have measurable reasonable time bound action planÌýto achieve the relevant T100 level for their Departmental hazard profile.
  • Plans to be approved by Faculty Deans by July 2024/25.

Objective 2: Radiation Safety Risk Assessments


  • All departments using ionising radiations to have a documented plan in place, approved by Safety Services, by JulyÌý2025Ìýto review their radiation risk assessments using the new templates.Ìý
  • All departments using Class 3R, 3B, or 4 lasers to have a documented plan in place, approved by Safety Services,Ìýby DecemberÌý2024Ìýto review their laser risk assessments using the new templates.

Objective 3: Stress Management


  • All stress risk assessments recommended by Workplace Health (WH) as part of a management referral will be reported by Faculty/Professional Services area to the Work HealthÌýand Safety Committee and UMC on a monthly basis.
  • Managers to record stress risk assessments completed with their reports through riskNET. These will be reported by Faculty/Professional Services area to Work Health and Safety Committee and compared against those recommended by Workplace Health on a monthly basis.ÌýÌý

Objective 4: Fire


  • To ensure that actions resulting from periodic Fire Risk Assessment (FRA) are resolved in line with recommended time periods.Ìý

Objective 5:ÌýHazardous Waste


All departments generating hazardous waste to have in place a waste management plan which should cover:

    • Types of hazardous waste generated including waste from spill or leak containment
    • The name of the person who is responsible for the waste from production to removal from the site
    • Information on when waste is reduced, reused or recycled as well as how it is processed (landfill, heat treatment etc)
    • How the quantity of waste generated will be monitored
  • Waste management plan (WMP) templates will be notified to Departmental Safety Officers when available. Departmental Safety Committees to monitor this objective andÌýWaste Management Plan to be ratified by the Faculty Deans
