果冻影院 academics contribute to the World Economic Forum鈥檚 Top 10 Emerging Technologies of 2024 report

The World Economic Forum鈥檚 Top 10 Emerging Technologies of 2024 report, now in its 12th year, is produced in collaboration with Frontiers.

A wider lens was employed for this year's report, leveraging the expertise of over 300 world-leading academics and experts from the Forum鈥檚 Global Future Councils, the University & Researcher Network and the Top 10 Emerging Technologies Steering Group members. This comprehensive report goes beyond listing the top 10 technologies and their associated risks and opportunities. It provides a qualitative assessment of each technology's potential impact on people, the planet, prosperity, industry and equity. Since 2011, this report has been a vital source of strategic intelligence for professionals worldwide.

Professor Mine Orlu (Professor of Pharmaceutics, 果冻影院 School of Pharmacy, Faculty of Life Sciences) and Professor Ruth Morgan (Professor of Crime and Forensic Science, 果冻影院 Security and Crime Science, Faculty of Engineering) were members of the WEF Steering Group that identified the technologies that made the 2024 list and were also co-authors of the report.

Professor Ruth Morgan said: 鈥淓xploring the latest emerging technologies is always eye-opening and an opportunity to imagine and reimagine the future. It is brilliant to be able to do that with the WEF Steering Group who bring diverse backgrounds, expertise and ways of thinking together. Technology is embedded into all parts of our physical, digital and human environments, cross-disciplinary thinking drawing on science, social science, arts and humanities, engineering and medicine is ever more relevant.鈥

The report features groundbreaking technologies such as AI for scientific discovery, Privacy enhancing technologies, Immersive technology for the built world and Genomics for transplants.
