Rebecca Gillen

Rebecca is a registered clinical scientist with experience in Nuclear Medicine and CT having previously worked in the North East of England and in Edinburgh.

Rebecca鈥檚 PhD project 鈥淚mprovement of Tumour Image Quantification via Partial Volume Correction鈥 is focused on reducing the detrimental effect of the limited resolution of Nuclear Medicine images. This is known as the 鈥楶artial Volume Effect鈥 and usually results in an underestimation of activity in small tumours. Correcting for this effect should improve the accuracy of quantitative measurements and could be applied to several applications in oncology including diagnosis, treatment planning and dosimetry. The project aims to develop a Partial Volume Correction strategy which is appropriate to the specific case of oncology and is sufficiently robust for clinical application.
