Applications open for the Yenching Academy's two year fellowship

果冻影院 final year students and alumni can apply for a fully-funded place on the Yenching Academy's Master's programme in China Studies.

Successful applicants will have the opportunity to study at Peking University (PKU) in Beijing. A two-year programme听from September 2024 will develop their understanding of China and its role in the world.听

At the core of the programme lies an emphasis on interdisciplinarity and the value it assigns to thinking about China鈥檚 past, present and future 鈥� from both Chinese and international perspectives.听

Scholars are given the flexibility to customise their programme within the broadly defined fields of the humanities and social sciences. Working closely with their academic mentors, they听choose听courses from six research areas:听

Economics and Management听
History and Archaeology听
Philosophy and Religion听
Politics and International Relations听
Law and Society听
Literature and Culture听

Recorded virtual information sessions specific to each of the six research areas, are available on the Yenching Academy鈥檚听听听

Eligibility 听

Applicants should have:听

Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in any field, or be currently enrolled in a Bachelor degree program and be on track to graduate no later than 31 August听2024.听
An outstanding academic record.听
Strong interest in interdisciplinary study of China.听
A record of extracurricular achievement, community engagement, social responsibility, and leadership potential.听
English proficiency.听

Application process听

果冻影院 will carry out a preliminary evaluation of applications submitted by their own students and alumni. Based on this assessment, 果冻影院 will nominate students for interviews conducted by the Yenching Academy.听

Please contact Professor Vivienne Lo (v.lo@ucl.ac.uk) to apply. Those nominated through 果冻影院鈥檚 internal pre-selection process will then be directed to submit their application through the .听

The deadline to submit your application to Professor Lo is Sunday 3 December 2023. The programme will begin听in September 2024.听

Mainland Chinese applicants

Mainland Chinese applicants apply through a different process. In accordance with the Chinese Ministry of Education鈥檚 requirements, students holding a P.R.C. passport are eligible for September 2024 admission if they are currently enrolled as undergraduates in a Mainland Chinese university.
