Update 9/9/22 Cancelled: Further Train Strikes coming up in September 2022

The planned strike action due to take place in September has now been called off inÌýlight of the Queen's death..

We will provide an update whenÌýwe have any further news.


Train drivers will strike on Thursday September 15 and Saturday 17 September 2022 as part of aÌýlong-running dispute over pay and conditions on the railway.

There will also be another strikeÌýfor 24 hours from midday onÌýMonday September 26Ìýuntil midday onÌýTuesday September 27 2022.

National rail routes into London will be affected on each of these strike days. You canÌývisit for specific details or check your train provider. TfL will not be affected on these days.

The train services affected will includeÌýthe main intercity routes from London to the Midlands, theÌýnorth of England, and ScotlandÌýand Wales, as well as commuter services in the south-east, Midlands and the North, and the London Overground, parts of theÌýTube and Elizabeth line services.

The affected services will beÌýAvanti West Coast, Chiltern Railways, c2c, CrossCountry;ÌýEast Midlands Railway, Greater Anglia, Great Western Railway, Hull Trains, LNER, London Overground, Northern Trains, Southeastern, TransPennine Express, and West Midlands Trains.

At ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº, we will keep activities running for students, with student-facing and campus based staff asked to come in to work where possible by planning ahead and allowing more time for travel.

,Ìýjourney planners or theÌýÌýmayÌýbe useful for planning alternative routes or alternative types of transport such as underground, buses, bicycle and scooter hire, walking, etc. If you are unable to get to work using alternative transport, you should advise your line manager as early as possible.

If the strikes completely prevent you from coming into campus, you may work from home if your job lends itself to remote working.Ìý

For staff unable to work from home, managers are encouraged to agree flexible solutions such as using TOIL or making up lost time where possible. If alternative arrangements cannot be found, staff should arrange to take annual leave or unpaid leave, in line with ourÌý
