Students to return to campus from 17 May, subject to confirmation from UK government

Update from Professor Deborah Gill to help students prepare for likely announcement of further easing of lockdown in England.

It is likely that all studentsÌýwho have been studying remotely will be able to return to campus from Monday 17 May,Ìýaccording to theÌýthird step of theÌýUK Government’sÌýÌýto ease lockdown restrictions in England.

Once this has been confirmed, some in-person teaching for someÌýprogrammesÌýwill resume at ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº andÌýstudent research projects that have been paused can restart, subject to local risk assessments.ÌýÌý

Returning to campusÌý

Your department will contact you with specific arrangements for yourÌýprogramme.Ìý

Many facilities are already open for students, including study spaces, library services and limited catering outlets.ÌýSeeÌýWhat’s open on campus. â¶Ä¯

The main buildings on campus are open and you will need your student ID to get in and out.ÌýIf you have lost your card, or are in your first year of study and have not collected this yet, please ensure that you .

Coronavirus testingÌý

If you’re travelling to London because of your return to campus, please get a test before you travel where  is available. ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº is running a free testing service onsite and once in London, you should be tested twice in your first week –Ìýon arrival and again three days later.ÌýÌý

All studentsÌýare encouraged toÌýget tested for COVID-19Ìýtwo times perÌýweek. This will help reduce the spread of infection and protect our community, especially those who may become seriously ill if they catch the virus.

Student supportÌý

Full support is available from ¹û¶³Ó°Ôºâ€¯Student Support and Wellbeing (SSW) in the form of same-day appointments with the Disability, Mental Health and Wellbeing (DMHW) team, counselling with Student Psychological and Counselling Services (SPCS), and self-help resources across the SSW website. Students can also contact ask¹û¶³Ó°Ôºâ€¯a²Ô»å Student Enquiries Centre. For students who plan to return to halls of residence, the ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Accommodation website has information about all the support services available. Ìý
