This week’s Zoom tip is about useful keyboard shortcuts.

Zoom offers keyboard shortcuts for many of the controls available in a meeting.ÌýTheseÌýcanÌýimprove accessibilityÌýfor people with a visual impairment or whoÌýare unable to use the mouse,Ìýbut are also useful if you justÌýprefer to keep your hands on the keyboard.ÌýIt’s not easy to remember themÌýall,Ìýso focus on the ones that you will use most frequently first and then gradually introduceÌýnew onesÌýas youÌýget used to them.Ìý

Here are some helpful shortcuts toÌýstart with:Ìý

Mute/unmuteÌýyourÌýaudio

Start/stop videoÌý

Mute the entire group (host only)Ìý

You can edit your keyboard shortcuts in SettingsÌýin the Zoom desktop app. Click on your icon in the top right and go toÌýSettings,Ìýor click on the Settings button (which looks like a grey cog symbol) just below your icon.Ìý

Using the Space bar to unmuteÌý

If you areÌýin a noisy environment you can set yourself to muteÌýbut temporarily unmute yourself to speakÌýby holding down theÌýspace bar. When you release the space bar you return to being muted.ÌýThis feature is enabled by default but you can turn it off under theÌýAudioÌýsection of Settings in the desktop app.Ìý
