Seeking exceptional undergraduates

Could you be one of 25 first year students to become a Laidlaw Scholar?

The Laidlaw Research and Leadership Programme aims to create leaders of the future through a mix of training and intensive summer research periods.

What does the programme involve?

  • Six days of leadership training spread across your first and second years' of undergraduate study at ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº
  • Two fully-funded six-week periods of intensive research in the summer holidays of the first and second years of study
  • Attendance on theÌý¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Global Citizenship Programme, and acting as a Global Citizenship Ambassador
  • Opportunities to put leadership skills into practice

Why become a Laidlaw Scholar?

The scholarship is a programme of activities which runs from the second term of your first year to the first term of your third year.

It's a chance for you to:

  • make a contribution to ¹û¶³Ó°Ôºâ€™s research, working with academic staff on questions of global significance
  • develop and practise leadership skills through training and putÌýyour skills into practice at ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº
  • be part of a high-performing group of students from across ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº, and;
  • enhance your CV and employability for the future

Application criteria

You must be a current first year undergraduate, from any discipline.

Entry is competitive and will be based on leadership potential and academic merit
