Chloe Ackroyd

What is your role and what does it involve?

I am Marketing and Communications Manager,Ìýresponsible for all student-facing communications and brand management of ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Careers. I work with allÌýon-and-offline communication channels including the website, social media,Ìýprinted materials, PR and branding management,Ìýas well asÌýthe promotion of our services,Ìýevents and activities we deliver as a department,Ìýinternally and externally.

How long have you been at ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº and what was your previous role?

I started working at ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº at the beginning of October 2016, so I've been here just over a year now. Previous to that I was Creative Director atÌýMagpie, aÌýmarketingÌýcommunications agency in Leeds workingÌýwith a lot of educational clients onÌýstudent marketingÌýcampaigns. And prior to that, IÌýwas Marketing Manager forÌýLeeds Arts University for seven years.

What working achievement or initiative are you most proud of?

We've launched a new student experience and management software system here at ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Careers, which enables us to communicate with students more effectively. This change in system has, amongst other things, allowed us to develop and design a newsletter that gives students bespoke information about our services, advice,Ìýopportunities and events they can get involved in to help them alongÌýtheir career journey. Since the launch a few months ago, we've doubled the amount of students that have signed up to receive this newsletter, it's been a great channel to engage with them. Ìý

Tell us about a project you are working on now which is top of your to-do list?

Our new website! We're in much need of a site refresh, and as with most ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº sites we're moving systems. It's a great opportunity to organise and cleanse information we have on the site. I want to ensure that it's more user-friendly and delivers information in a useful way for our audience. I've carried out many focus groups to understand what students want from a careers site and the best way to convey information. It willÌýenable them to engage with us more and to access information dependent whatÌýstage they're at in theirÌýcareer-thinking. Ìý
