¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Global Citizenship Programme: a practical way to affect change in the world ucl.ac.uk/global-citizenship-programme/register" target="_self">2017 ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Global Citizenship Programme, which brings together students from across ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº to explore our biggest global challenges.

Over two weeks from 30 May to 9 June 2017, the ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Global Citizenship Programme connects students from across ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº to discuss problems like infectious diseases and rapid urbanisation.

But it's more than theory. The Programme also offers the chance to develop hands-on skills, from negotiation to presentation, photography and film-editing.

Anu Gulati, who took three different strands of the Programme during her undergraduate degree, said, "I liked the sound of doing something that would develop my professional skills. It also was a chance to meet new people outside of my course, to learn with and from them."

New skills

Anu, who is now studying for an MSc in Security and Crime Science, said, "The learning was so varied and helped me to developÌýso many new skills. ItÌýwas really enjoyableÌýto try outÌýnew things likeÌýphotography, which I haven't done before in my studies."

The Programme is free to attend. It's open to all undergraduates and taught postgraduates. And it's not assessed.

There are ten strands to choose from, depending on your level of study.

Anu's advice on how to decide between them, "I would say think about your motivations and try to match them up with one of the strands.ÌýThere are so many different options to choose from and you can do the programme in any year."

What it means to be a Global Citizen

Meet new people, develop new skills, get ready for your career, and gain a better understanding of what it means to be a Global Citizen - that's the ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Global Citizenship Programme.

"¹û¶³Ó°Ôº is so diverse, with so many different people studying so many different things I knew exploringÌýglobal citizenship with my peers would be a unique opportunity," Anu said. "I've made some really good friends!"

So no grades, no exams, no cost. Just the chance to meet new people, hear new ideas, and contribute to solving our biggest global challenges.

Anu added, "It was such a good experience, I think more students should take the opportunity."
