Healthy participants needed for ongoing clinical trial at ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Eastman Dental Institute ucl.ac.uk/eastman/research/departments/clinical-research/eastman-clinical-investigation-centre" target="_self">¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Eastman Clinical Investigation Centre are recruiting participants for their study on gum inflammation.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of a sodium bicarbonate toothpaste on plaque accumulation and gum inflammation compared to a non-sodium bicarbonate toothpaste and to further understand the mechanisms of gum inflammation.

To take part in this study, you must be aged 18-60 years-old, in good general and oral health, be a non-smoker and must have a minimum of 20 natural teeth (without caps or veneers).

Participants must read and sign the Informed Consent and be available for the 8-week duration of the study. In addition, participants must be registered with a general dental practitioner (private or NHS).

Assessment of your eligibility to participate will take place at the initial screening visit. Upon successfully completing all of the study procedures, participants will receive a financial remuneration in the amount of £400. The amount of compensation participants receive is to cover out of pocket expenses that may be incurred whilst participating in the study.

Criteria

If your answers are YES to the following questions:

  • Are youÌý18 yearsÌýorÌýolder?Ìý
  • Are you a non-smoker?Ìý
  • Have you gotÌýat least 20 natural teeth and no crowns on upper front teeth?

And NO to the following:

  • Are youÌýpregnant or lactating?
  • Are youÌýon chronic medications (including contraceptives)?
  • Are youÌýcurrently participating in other clinical trial?

This study has been reviewed and approved by The North of Scotland REC in accordance with UK research approval and conduct regulations.
