Professor's Got Talent

Professor Vincent Walsh, (¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Cognitive Neuroscience) will be appearing in front of millions of television viewers inÌýthe semi-final of Britain's Got Talent on Saturday, 31 May.

Professor Walsh Professor Walsh is stepping away from his desk and taking the stage once again to play trumpet in London's Gay Big Band.Ìý

The band, which consists of 20 volunteers plus dragÌýactÌý³¢²¹Ìý³Õ´Ç¾±³æ, will be competing against 45 otherÌýhopefuls in the semi-finalÌýto make to the final, a week on Saturday.ÌýTheyÌýwereÌýpickedÌýfrom thousands of other acts in the heatsÌýand performed toÌýrapturousÌýcrowds and high praise fromÌýthe judges.Ìý

The band have enjoyed success so far.ÌýTheÌýjudges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, David Walliams and Alesha DixonÌýhaveÌýdescribedÌýthem as 'perfect for Great Britain and the queen'. The winner of Britain's Got TalentÌýwillÌýperform at the Royal Variety Performance and receive a £250,000 cash prize. Professor Walsh and his band need your vote.Ìý

Professor Walsh is a Professor of Human Brain Research in ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº's Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience. In his day-to-day role he leads a research group called Applied Cognitive Neuroscience (ACN). The goal of whichÌýis to use neuroscience to improve high performance in sport, high pressure decision making and advancing human brain stimulation in cognition and health. He also teaches on the ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº BASc course and on the MSc in Cognitive Neuroscience.

DavidÌýWalliams described them as aÌý'class act'.ÌýAlesha Dixon told the band,Ìýafter their rendition of standardÌýNew York, New York,Ìý'that is how you make an impact, you're a force to be reckoned with'.
