¹û¶³Ó°Ôº's third staff engagement survey will run from 31 October to 18 November.

£10 will be donated to the student hardship fund for every completed survey returned.

If we get close to a 100% return rate this will mean that students in hardship will benefit by around £80,000.

The purpose of the staff survey is to benchmark developments since the previous survey - to understand what ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº has done well and what can be improved - and to develop ideas for new projects and initiatives. It is really important that as many staff as possible from across the faculties and administrative departments complete the survey to ensure a representative picture is given. A good response rate will mean that the findings are robust and show how staff feel. All staff on ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº's direct payroll who started work at ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº before 1 October will be able to participate.

We have appointed an independent survey provider to ensure the confidentiality of everyone's opinions. belongs to the Market Research Society and is bound by their strict Code of Conduct to guarantee confidentiality.

• The survey questionnaires will go direct to ORC International, and will be processed and analysed by them.
• ORC International will not pass raw data or information about individual responses to ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº, and no-one within ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº will ever see your completed questionnaire.
• The personal details in the questionnaire will not be used to identify how individuals have responded to the survey but to understand any differences across staff groups within the University.
• To guarantee that individuals cannot be identified, the reports on the survey will not be shown for any groups where there are fewer than 10 respondents.

These procedures will ensure that ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº will not get to know who has responded to the survey, and will not be able to identify the opinions expressed by any individual member of staff.

All employees with a ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº email address will be sent an email from ORC International on 31 October. This will have a personal link to the survey (through an encrypted URL). Your department details will be pre-populated, from your email link, so do not forward your link to anyone else for them to complete the survey. Staff without email access will be given a hard copy to complete and a pre paid reply envelope to send directly to ORC International. The survey will typically take only 15-20 minutes to complete.
