EU launches 鈧�7 billion research funding package

A set of research funding opportunities with a total budget of 鈧�7 billion has been launched by the European Union to stimulate research across several disciplines.
This is the largest financial package ever issued by the .
The new FP7 calls are largely designed to encourage innovation and research which tackles the toughest challenges of our era, particularly climate change, energy and food security, resource-efficiency, health and ageing populations.
Funding is also available for excellent basic research. Nearly 鈧�1.6 billion is being allocated to European Research Council grants to fund both senior research leaders and early-career researchers to carry out cutting-edge research projects, both individually and in teams.
