  • ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº students are invited to contribute their views to the 'Student Barometer'.

A feature of the barometer is that ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº is able to compare its performance against more than 100 other universities in the UK and overseas.

This important survey of student experience at ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº is run twice a year - once at the beginning of the academic year and once at the end. The survey should not take long to complete. The target is less than 12 minutes. Most questions can be answered with a click, but there are also opportunities for you to add your own comments. Students' views are treated in strictest confidence and ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº will not identify you from your response.

The survey is independently administered for ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº by the International Graduate Insight Group (i-graduate). As a thank-you for completing the questionnaire, i-graduate is offering the opportunity to win a £1,000 cash prize or to suggest a £1,000 charitable donation. One of ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº's main committees, the Joint Staff Student Committee, looks at the results of the survey in more detail.

In the Autumn 2009 survey, ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº had the highest completion rate of any UK university. The survey results are important in helping ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº to identify the areas where attention is required as well as those things that we seem to be getting right. Student Barometer respondents who participated in the Autumn wave indicated that they were particularly satisfied with the expertise of our lecturing staff and the content of the programmes that they were pursuing. Students expressed concerns about the cost of living, financial support and IT facilities. Students are asked to indicate whether they would recommend their university to other students thinking of applying. 87 percent of ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº students said they would, and ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº's recommendation score from our international students is still the highest in London.
