Fifteen Wellcome Trust Vacation Scholarships at ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº are available to science, dentistry and medicine undergraduates from universities in the UK and Ireland - including ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº. The scholarships provide promising undergraduates with hands-on research experience, working on ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº projects in the field of biomedical science over the summer vacation, with the aim of encouraging them to consider a career in research.

The ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Scholarships are open to undergraduates from any UK/Irish university including ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº currently enrolled in the middle year(s) of a degree programme in basic science (such as biological sciences, chemistry, biochemistry, pharmacy and computing), dentistry and veterinary science, as well as to medical students between the end of the second year of the MBBS and the end of the penultimate year. Scholarships for summer research projects at ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº are available for up to eight weeks and currently provide a weekly stipend of £190.

The deadline for applications for projects at ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº is 18 April 2008.

The Wellcome Trust also operates a separate scheme of Student Elective Prizes specifically for medical students.
