Last chance to complete the 2006 National Student Survey

17 March 2006

The 2006 National Student Survey (NSS) is coming to an end and final-year undergraduate students must complete the survey by 23 April 2006 in order to have their say on their experience at ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº.

The survey should take no more than five minutes to complete and is an opportunity to give feedback on all aspects of university life including:

  • course teaching
  • assessment and feedback
  • academic support
  • organisation and management
  • learning resources
  • personal development.

In 2005, ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº received generally positive feedback through the NSS and was assessed by students as one of the most popular universities of the prestigious Russell Group. The NSS also saw English-based Studies at ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº rated as the fourth most popular area of study in the country.

The NSS has proved useful to ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº in identifying areas for improvement and in tackling these. Professor Michael Worton, ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Vice-Provost (Academic & International), explained: "The area where we scored least well in the NSS was 'assessment and feedback'. This corresponds exactly to our own conclusions. In fact, as Chair of Academic Committee, I set up last session a Working Group on Assessment & Feedback, and I am delighted with the progress that they have made already."
