Description

Only available to single hons Geog and joint degree Geog students. The course introduces students to a range of research techniques commonly used in contemporary human geography. A particular emphasis is placed on the practical questions associated with how and when you should choose a particular method and how identified methods are effectively implemented. It is a prerequisite for anyone proposing to undertake a third-year dissertation involving any such methods.

Students completing this course will gain valuable transferable skills in the following areas:

  • Evaluating different forms of evidence
  • Written communication and argumentation
  • Interviewing and qualitative analysis
  • GIS, statistical analysis and coding
  • Project design and management
