Priority will be given to ISPS Mandarin major language students who have completed some post A-level training in Mandarin or who have spent some time in China, actively using the language. However, all ISPS students are welcome if they have reached the required language level (space permitting).

Description

This module is designed for advanced level non-linguist ISPS students requiring the Mandarin language for their degree programme. It comprises knowledge and an understanding of both the structure of Mandarin and the social and political context in which it is currently used.ÌýIt enables participants to use their language skills in an academic environment. The module covers recent history and policies, current affairs and the latest issues in society as well as other related topics.ÌýThe module will focus on reading and writing ability in a variety of academic registers, as well as developing listening and speaking skills through lectures, seminars and presentations within a university context.
