Description

This module provides students from the MSc Engineering with Finance, MSc Engineering with Innovation and Entrepreneurship and MSc Manufacturing with Innovation and Enterprise with experience of working as a group, in liaison, where possible, with industry, in order to design a complex engineering product, system or service under stringent time and resource limitations and to assess its commercial potential.

Students have the opportunity to apply formal project management techniques such as planning, resource allocation, cost estimation, project monitoring and reporting, and to develop commercial skills and business awareness.

A working prototype, full technical specification, parts lists, details of the supply chain, manufacturing plan, pricing, and marketing strategy must be developed. In addition a full business plan with five year projections must be given, including an assessment of the likely sources of start-up capital funds.
