Description

This module aims to enable students to explore topical real-world issues in contemporary society, for example: screen time amongst young people, bullying in schools and ageism. Each issue will be covered from a social developmental approach, drawing on both Social Psychology, Developmental Psychology and the integration and interaction between these two core disciplines. This module is designed to help students to consider how a social developmental approach can help address real world issues. There will be an applied focus throughout the module, covering how social developmental theory and research can inform interventions aimed at tackling real world issues. The module aims to build on prior knowledge of Social Psychology and Developmental Psychology to understand the integration and interaction between these two disciplines; and to offer an applied focus, by addressing evidence-based interventions grounded in a social developmental approach.
