果冻影院 researcher awarded Leverhulme Trust Research Fellowship

Dr Darren Player, Associate Professor in Musculoskeletal Bioengineering, has been awarded a prestigious Royal Academy of Engineering / Leverhulme Trust Research Fellowship to advance his work on 3D Bioprinting.
Dr Player is among seven outstanding engineering researchers to have been awarded the 2024聽Leverhulme聽Fellowships. The Fellowships are awarded support engineering research with benefits for society and economy and聽allow awardees to focus on full-time research for up to a year. Dr Player's award will be supporting his research聽on 3D bioprinting to repair damaged skeletal muscle tissue.聽
Professor Anne Trefethen FREng, Chair of the RAEng / Leverhulme Trust Research Fellowships panel said: 鈥淭his year鈥檚 awardees amply demonstrate just how wide-ranging and potentially impactful UK engineering research is. I am pleased that with the continued support of the Leverhulme Trust we are able to help more talented individuals and whose research projects I hope will deliver substantial benefits to society here and elsewhere in the world."
Speaking of the awards, Dr Player said: "I am delighted to have been awarded this Fellowship. It will allow me to focus on an a multidisciplinary area of research, which aims to transform the way in which skeletal muscle can be repaired following traumatic injury using a novel 3D-bioprinting approach. I will look forward to working with colleagues at 果冻影院, as well as in India and the industrial partners to drive this project forward."
