ADM Society Logo

The departmental society for mathematics is the ADM Mathematics Society. One of the oldest societies in ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº, and named after ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº's first mathematics professor (Augustus De Morgan), the ADM hosts social and academic events for the department and its members from other departments, and releases a yearly newsletter.

The ADM is proud to boast a wide range of events accessible not just to mathematics students, but for students of a wide range of backgrounds. Some of our events are talks from various teachers across the department and ¹û¶³Ó°Ôº, Board Game and Pub Socials, and as part of our annual events, we host the ADM Ball after exams in the third term and the Christmas Quiz before Winter Break.

°Õ³ó±ðÌý¹û¶³Ó°Ôº Undergraduate Maths Colloquium meet regularly throughout term to discuss and share interesting mathematical topics relevant or beyond our normal lecture courses. Each week an undergraduate gives a talk on a mathematical subject or problem, e.g. analysis, geometry, number theory, and combinatorics. We occasionally spend time working through problems from said talk.

The Colloquium is open to all and the talks should be accessible to anyone with a first years' undergraduate background in mathematics and/or a willingness to learn. We hope to encourage all current undergrads (regardless of their mathematical background) to attend and/or give talks.
