Rev. Isaac Dupuy Akers

Biography

Clergyman and mortgagee of land on Nevis. He sold property inherited with his brothers from their father James Akers the elder. His own slave-ownership has yet to be established.

  1. Son of James Akers of St Christopher, matriculated Brasenose 1783 aged 17. BA 1787, MA 1790. He appeared as a surrogate clergyman at Thame in Surrey in 1813.

  2. By deeds of 01 and 02/06/1795, Sholto Archibald (q.v.) mortgaged his lands known as Beachs and Springett (previously owned by William Pemberton) to secure the debt of 拢3140 8s 10d he owed to Isaac Dupuy Akers and for which he had issued a bond of 拢6200. Akers was shown as late of St Kitts but then of the City of London clerk.
