Under a deed of 03/06/1771 Benjamin Haultain of Weybridge aged 30 purchased for £1350 an annuity of £150 p.a. for his own life (unusually, there was no second life) from Rowland Ash secured on Ash's estate and enslaved people on St Vincent, as one of a small group of purchasers paying in total £3175 for annuities amounting to £325 p.a. The schedule of annuitants immediately precedes a list of 76 enslaved people on whom the annuities were secured. Richard Willis of London guaranteed the payments.

1. His son Francis was for 50 years Vicar of East Ham and Rector of Weybridge, dying in 1827. This GM obituary gave the death-date of 1790 for Benjamin Haultain. No will has been found for Benjamin Haultain: the will of Martha Haultain widow of Weybridge made in 1788 and proved 28/04/1796 appears to be that of his mother.
