Biography

Apparently unsuccessful claimant with Edward Whitmore (q.v.) as assignees of a mortgage for 拢7500 on the Harrow estate in Barbados, when he was given as of Auction Mart. Probably son of John Whitmore MP and Governor of the Bank of England (1750-1826) and brother of Frederick and Edward Whitmore (each of whom q.v.).

  1. John Whitmore of Auction Mart and Clapham Common subscribed 拢7000 to the London & Brighton Railway in 1837. The will of John Whitmore of Clapham Common (made in 1839) was proved 07/06/1842: the will is very simple and made his wife Maria universal legatee and executrix. Maria Whitmore of Clapham died in 1862 leaving 拢25,000.
