Edward Byam of Cedar Hill

Biography

Will of Edward Byam of [Cedar Hill] St Peter Antigua [but now in Liverpool] [made in 1792] proved 13/12/1799. He left an annuity of 拢400 p.a. to his mother Martha Byam then of Camberwell secured on his property [i.e. including enslaved people] in Antigua. He left 拢1000 to his brother Samuel Byam of University College Oxford to be paid 5 years after his death, and an annuity of 拢600 p.a. to his wife Christian Matilda. He left his estate at Cedar Hill with the Lower and Upper Works to his son William. According to Vere Langford Oliver, in a codicil of 1795 not included in the PCC wills online, Edward Byam of Cedar Hill left 拢3000 at 21 and maintenance until then to his infant son Edward.
