Biography

The son of Benjamin Bostock (1763-1793) and Harriett Straker Budden; the great-grandson of Benjamin Bostock (1716-1785).
Married Louisa Lightbourn, daughter of William Lightbourn of Bermuda.

Benjamin James possibly admitted to one of the Inns of Court in London (though needs verification); admitted to practise as a barrister-at-law in the Courts of Barbados in 1817.

In 1811 he came to Barbados to wind up the estates of his father and great-grandfather. In 1812, he sold the Yorkshire plantation to William Drayton for 拢22,000. His father had already sold Carlton estate to William Prescod.
